Hindostan Archive
Made in New Delhi, India
A contemporary ode to the subcontinent’s artisanal legacy.
Hindostan Archive is a cultural fashion house that reimagines South Asian heritage through a contemporary lens. Rooted in the philosophies of preservation, sustainability, and storytelling, the brand was founded by Sahil Meenia and Shaoni Ray—kindred spirits who crossed paths at the National Institute of Fashion Technology, New Delhi. United by their ancestral ties to pre-partition India—Sialkot and Dhaka respectively—they envisioned a label that would not only pay homage to their roots but also serve as a bridge between tradition and modernity
Philosophy
At Hindostan Archive, every garment is a canvas of intentionality—where design begins with research and reverence. The brand’s process involves deep dives into textile histories, visits to artisan communities, and immersive collaborations with craftspeople across India. From natural dyes made of turmeric, indigo, and myrobalan to the use of organic fabrics like kala cotton and handloom silks, the brand remains committed to ecologically sound and ethically conscious fashion.
Their garments carry stories—stitched by hand, embroidered with care, and detailed with elements like mother-of-pearl buttons and horn toggles. No piece is rushed. Each creation reflects the time-honored skills of national award-winning artisans and celebrates the tactile poetry of techniques like kantha, hand-knitting, and block printing.
Inspired by the Past, Designed for the Present
Hindostan Archive embraces a transparent supply chain and circular production model. Waste becomes resource—repurposed into linings, bags, and trims. Every step in the making process is documented and shared, inviting consumers to walk the journey with them.
Above all, the brand stands for mindful consumption. In a world overwhelmed by excess, Hindostan Archive champions the idea of less but better—creating enduring garments that transcend trend and time. Their commitment to fair trade ensures that the hands behind each creation are honored, compensated, and empowered, rippling impact far beyond fashion.
In essence, Hindostan Archive is not just a brand. It is a movement—towards a slower, more connected world, stitched together by culture, craft, and care.
