House of Idar

Made in Gujarat

The idea of venturing into the world of garments found its roots in the tailoring community of the village of Idar. This community served as the foundation for what would later become House of IDAR—a name that encapsulates a vision to serve as a blueprint for identifying, embracing, and nurturing artistic communities.

The name Idar carries layered meanings. Derived from Persian, it can mean “here and now,” while in Hindi, it signifies “entry” or “writing.” These interpretations reflect House of IDAR’s intent to weave together diverse ideas, methods, and textiles into a cohesive and meaningful whole.

Every garment produced by House of IDAR begins with the careful curation of raw materials, developed and transformed through the hands of local artisans. Their designs mirror the vibrant surroundings through rich colors, intricate patterns, and regionally inspired styles. At its core, the brand is grounded in a philosophy of holistic creation.

Vision and Commitment

House of IDAR focuses on honoring various textiles, prints, and traditional techniques, with the aim of fostering their continued relevance. Each piece of clothing is crafted to tell a story—bridging the observed and the lived—and creating a deeply personal, tangible experience for the wearer.

Established in 2019, House of IDAR takes its name from the village of Idar, located 20 kilometers from Himmat Nagar in Gujarat. It is an initiative born out of Meena Prints, a family-run textile manufacturing company with over four decades of expertise in the industry.
