MULYA
About Mulya
Mulya is a brand deeply rooted in the values and integrity of its homeland, Dev Bhumi Uttarakhand. Born amidst the serene Himalayan landscapes, Mulya began as a humble homegrown initiative and has flourished into a purpose-driven brand that celebrates nature, culture, and the essence of womanhood. Guided by a mission to create garments that embody the soul of the earth, Mulya embraces natural dyes and the ancient art of eco-printing to craft textiles that resonate with authenticity and sustainability.
Origins in Uttarakhand
Nestled in the lap of the Himalayas, Uttarakhand is a state rich in natural resources, including pristine rivers, dense forests, and majestic snow-clad peaks. The land is home to the sacred Char-Dhams—Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri, and Yamunotri—that inspire spiritual reverence. Mulya draws its ethos from this natural and cultural bounty, infusing its textiles with the spirit of the region.
Inspired by Nature
Environmental sustainability lies at the heart of Mulya's philosophy. The brand is committed to creating fabrics that are eco-friendly, biodegradable, and generate zero water pollution. By harnessing the vibrant hues of flowers, leaves, and plant-based dyes, Mulya ensures that every garment reflects a deep respect for the Earth. Each piece carries the essence of nature, making it both beautiful and environmentally conscious.
Ethos of Sustainability
Mulya believes in the transformative power of nature’s palette. The dyes used in its textiles are sourced from flowers, leaves, and barks, many of which are collected from local temples, weaving stories and memories into every piece. Through its eco-printing process, Mulya pays tribute to the Earth, minimizing waste while celebrating the intricate beauty of natural elements. This ensures that no two creations are ever alike.
A Journey of Purpose
Mulya’s journey began with a passion for textiles and a commitment to bringing meaningful value to the lives of both the creators and wearers of its garments. From training a single woman to organizing skill-development workshops in remote regions of Uttarakhand, Mulya has grown into a brand dedicated to innovation and continuous improvement, always striving to make a difference.
The Visionary Behind Mulya
At the helm of Mulya is Alisha, a visionary NIFT graduate who turned her passion for sustainable fashion into a thriving brand. After a successful career in the fashion industry, Alisha felt a deep calling to return to her roots in Uttarakhand. Inspired by her homeland’s cultural richness and natural beauty, she founded Mulya with a mission to preserve traditional craftsmanship and promote sustainability. Her leadership embodies the spirit of resilience and creativity, setting Mulya apart as a brand with a soul.
Empowering Women, Transforming Lives
Mulya is more than a brand—it’s a movement dedicated to empowering women. Its team consists entirely of women, many from marginalized communities, who are trained and supported through skill-development workshops. Mulya not only provides them with employment opportunities but also nurtures their creativity and resilience, making every textile a testament to their strength and ingenuity.
Recognized for Excellence
Mulya's commitment to sustainable fashion and community empowerment has earned widespread recognition. Honored as one of the winners of Startup Uttarakhand 2020, the brand has been celebrated for its innovative use of temple waste and dedication to sustainability. Mulya continues to receive accolades from clients, officials, and industry leaders, reaffirming its place as a beacon of ethical fashion and social impact.
Mulya’s journey is one of empowerment, sustainability, and rediscovery—an inspiring story woven into every thread of its textiles
